Jeff Minters Void Runner History

The ultimate conflict in the drone wars is present in Jeff Minter's VoidRunner, the second sequel to Gridrunner. After the defeat in Matrix Wars, the droids seek revenge, preparing a nuclear bomb to destroy the earth. Therefore, a corps of pilots is sent to the droids' home planet with the goal of eliminating each and every droid.

What's new about VoidRunner is that you have not just one ship, but four. In the first few levels, the ships will move in groups. Later in the game, some of your ships will have inverted movement. Some of these formations will cause the ships to fire in different directions. Useful when you have enemies coming in from behind.

How to play Jeff Minters Void Runner

Enemies come in many different flavours. The most common ones simply explode when hit, bouncing predictably around the screen. Then there are the Gridrunner-style aliens that when hit leave a capsule that needs to be destroyed. Typical of a Minter game, you will also fight furry animals such as camels and goats.

The game also accepts joysticks. Simply press the fire button on the joystick to start, instead of the space bar to start using the joystick.
