XEVIOUS HISTORY
One hundred thousand years ago, an ancient civilisation thrived on our Earth, its product being GAMP (General Artificial Matrix Producer). To survive the Ice Age, most of Earth's inhabitants have decided to leave Earth and have finally settled on a planet called Xevious.
A group of humans remained, becoming our own ancestors. Many years have passed, and the Xevians are now planning a mass return to their long-lost homeland. Pilot Mu, his android companion Eve, and Mio, a Xevian who opposes the GAMP regime, returned from a space voyage just in time to warn Earth of the impending invasion. The Solvalou prototype fighter ship will be used as the main weapon against the Xevian attack.

HOW TO PLAY XEVIOUS
Xevious is a vertical scrolling shooter that is notable for being the first such game to feature a plane flying over the Earth (as opposed to outer space in other games), showing views of the South American wilderness. It also introduced, for the first time, two types of enemies to fight: aerial and terrestrial (the menacing SOL towers summoned by GAMP to help their planes). The player-controlled ship, Solvalou, is equipped with two weapons, each assigned to a button: the Zapper for aerial enemies and the Blaster, which drops bombs on ground targets with the help of a lock-on. Aerial enemies are divided into sub-categories that are distinguished by their attack patterns and behaviour. Certain enemy types are immune to Solvalou's weapons and should be avoided.
