History of Lazer Wheel
In Lazer Wheel the aliens have decided to invade the eight sectors of the Hyperspace Causeway by planting bombs to destroy them. You are a pilot of a spaceship sent into the sectors to destroy the aliens and their bombs in various levels. The game is viewed from above with each sector shown on the screen and each sector takes the shape of a circle with you sitting in the middle. The aliens and bombs sit on the edge of the circle and move around the edge to avoid being destroyed. In later levels, the circles revolve around your ship and you need to shoot them before they explode.

How to play Lazer Wheel
As the aliens and bombs appear and disappear as they are destroyed, the other seven sectors are also trying to be destroyed. To the right of the circle is a box called Lase Scan and this shows decreasing bars for each sector and when a bar is empty, that sector is destroyed, so you must jump into the sectors to destroy the aliens and bombs. A timer at the bottom left of the screen counts down and when it reaches zero and you have sectors left, then you have completed the level and move on to the next one where more aliens and bombs appear and move faster.
Analysis of Lazer Wheel (Microhobby nº167)
At this station, the work was supposed to be for research, but this was just a cover. The real objective was to have a spearhead to serve as a base for possible war operations in outer space. Hence the excessive security measures.
But the potential enemies were not as naïve as they thought and discovered the trap, after which they decided that the best thing to do was to destroy the security system in order to later eliminate the threat looming over their amorphous heads. The method was simple in philosophy, but somewhat complicated in execution.
It consisted of inserting a high-explosive bomb in each of the eight sectors of the security system, rendering the station completely defenceless.
This was my mission: to stop the bombs from going off. And it wasn't going to be easy, as the circular sectors that made up the defence system were swarming with different suicidal escort ships, whose sole purpose was to eliminate me before I did the same to them.
"Lazer Wheel" is an arcade game with a simple plot, modest graphics, but a very high degree of addictiveness, which is achieved thanks to the high speed at which the enemies move through each of the levels.
Forget about collecting items, forget about finger fatigue from pressing fire and use all 18 senses at your disposal to survive each of the sectors. Sight, reflexes and a little strategic skill can help you avoid the demolition of the XJ-87 station.
