HISTORY OF DAN DARE

Dan Dare, the original superhero, appeared on Corporation's "This is Your Life".

The guests, who spoke enthusiastically of Dan's achievements, his bravery and his compassion, included his faithful friend Digby, who had shared so many of Dan's adventures, Professor Peabody, Fleet Commander Sir Hubert Guest, Sondor the ambassador from Venus along with their equivalents from every planet in the known universe. It seemed that the whole world had turned out to honour Dan.

Dan Dare, embarrassed but deeply moved by this praise, stepped forward to speak, and suddenly the image on every Vidi screen in the solar system changed into a series of multi-coloured horizontal stripes, which slowly cleared to reveal none other than the Mekon's evil green face.

The Mekon proceeded to relate his dastardly plan to propel a hollow asteroid the size of a minor asteroid on a collision course with the Earth. If the powers that be did not yield to his terms, the Earth would be wiped out.

If they accepted, the asteroid would be detonated harmlessly, the Earth would be safe and the Mekon would take command of the universe.

They could not give in to the Mekon's threats, but what was the alternative? In the studio the assembled people turned their gaze to one man, Colonel Dan Dare knew what he had to do...!

Dan Dare is a licensed game based on the cult comic book character, recreating his daring attempts to defeat Mekon and save the earth.

The ship Anastasia is attacked by the Treens as soon as Dan gets on board, but fortunately he detects a laser on board. From then on, he must act as quickly as possible.

HOW TO PLAY DAN DARE

The main task in Dan Dare is to find each of the 5 parts of a planetary destruction mechanism in the control room, so that it can spread safely. He can only carry one at a time, and once he gets the back he must find the correct plug for each one. Finally, he must escape to the surface.
