The story is set 100 years after the battle against the threat known as "Alien Syndrome". Aileen Harding, a young lieutenant with a terrible past of tragedy behind her, is sent alone to investigate an incident on the Kronos ship designated to the Seti Alpha 5 sector. All trace of her had been lost, but her signal has been located two weeks later, in a deteriorated state and with no response from her crew, so the worst is feared.
